2nd Shift Production Lead – Meat Processing Plant

About the Role

Brushy Prairie Packing is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Lead to oversee evening operations in our meat processing facility. This role is responsible for coordinating production, leading part-time staff, preparing equipment and ingredients, and ensuring efficient, high-quality product output.

This position plays a key role in improving production efficiency, product quality, and operational organization across second shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the daily grinding and packaging plan
  • Prepare ingredients, supplies, and equipment for production
  • Set up and operate production equipment including grinders, stuffers, vacuum packaging machines, tumblers, and labelers
  • Assist with sausage and ground product production and packaging
  • Manage value-added processing including curing, brining, slicing, rendering, and smoking
  • Manage sous vide production
  • Coordinate and lead part-time production staff
  • Oversee labeling and packaging quality
  • Organize freezer inventory and manage product storage
  • Handle shipping and receiving of incoming and outgoing products
  • Ensure equipment and facility are prepared for the following production day/week

Typical Schedule

Monday

  • 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Grinding plan and ingredient preparation
  • Supervise part-time staff

Tuesday & Wednesday

  • 2:00 PM – Midnight
  • Equipment setup and packaging operations
  • Ground pork production and packaging
  • Labeling sous vide products
  • Packaging rendered fats
  • Curing, brining, and marinading

Thursday & Friday

  • Flexible hours
  • Sous vide cooking and value-add production
  • Packaging and processing operations
  • Shipping/receiving management
  • Freezer organization and inventory management
  • Facility preparation for the following week

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Leadership experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency required for daily communication with staff.

  • Accurate frozen inventory management

Work Environment

You will work closely with the plant manager, fabrication manager, and other processing staff to coordinate daily production and maintain high operational standards.
